Change your

Church Conference date*

If your assigned date won’t work, switch with one of your colleagues and then notify the district office, 906-228-4644. The DS does not want to drive to the Keweenaw Parish if the date has been switched with Millersburg!

Please switch with someone “in your neighborhood” if you are scheduled on a day that the DS has more than one church conference.

*Pastors only, please.

2010 CHURCH CONFERENCE INSTRUCTIONS & SCHEDULE

(Please read everything!) (Plan ahead!)

1) The host church of a multiple point charge is CAPITALIZED on the list.

2) Except where otherwise noted, the S/PPRC will meet with me at 5:30 pm, followed by the Church Conference at 6:30 pm.  (So = look down the list and see if your starting time is different than the norm!)  All meetings will be held at your local time.

3) Make sure you read all of the material, and make sure to print your own agenda.  Do not print the suggested agenda.  Tailor it for your situation.

4) If your assigned date is bad, switch with one of your colleagues, and then let me know!  I do not want to drive to Ironwood if the meetings were switched to the Soo.  Please, O PLEASE, switch with someone “in your neighborhood” if you are scheduled on a day that I have more than one Church Conference.  Thanks!

5) Print out your own agenda and have enough materials for everyone present.

6) Please read all of the materials, and pay attention to any deadlines that are listed.  I actually read the materials, and need time to read them in advance.

7) Church Conference materials can be downloaded at:  www.mqtdistrict.com/churchconferences.html.

8) The suggested agenda is… suggested!  Tailor it to fit your congregations.  Feel free to pick your own songs!  List the name of each participant, rather than using my generic suggestions, such as “lay leader.”  Also:  remember to ask people in advance if they have a responsibility!

9) They say “a picture is worth a thousand words.”  Some of the churches have done a great job with Powerpoint/Video/DVD displays of their ministries and activities.  I invite more of you to do the same type of thing!  That way the meeting will be a bit (or a great deal) more enjoyable for all in attendance, including the District Superintendent!

10) Read all of the material, and do your own agenda.

10) Please avoid the habit that some of the pastors have admitted to:  they tell me that they look at this material when it first arrives, and then do not look at it again until the week of the meeting…. or even the day before!!  Not good.

11) Feel free to contact me with any questions you might have after reading all of the material and thinking about how you will do your own agenda, 906-228-4644 or umc@mqtdistrict.com.
