If your assigned date won’t work, switch with one of your colleagues and then notify
the district office, 906-228-4644. Please switch with someone “in your neighborhood”
if you are scheduled on a day that the DS has more than one church conference. The
DS does not want to drive to the Keweenaw Parish if the date has been switched with
Grace and peace to you in Jesus Christ. While September may seem such a long way
off in our calendars, now is that time that we begin making plans for our annual
church conferences. Therefore, here’s the “heads up” for our fall time together.
Please make sure to read all of the materials and plan ahead for your church conferences.
The church conference schedule, forms, materials, and agenda, may be accessed from
this website. ALL CAPS indicates the host church in a multiple-point charge. If the
day that I have set does not work for you, please switch with one of your colleagues
in the immediate vicinity and notify us in the district office. Also you will want
to keep in mind that I cannot make it from the east end to the west end of the district
in the same day. If you still cannot find someone to switch dates with you, please
contact the office immediately and we will see if there is another date available.
Here are some reminders as you fill them out:
Honor the deadlines.
Forms are available in digital format. They must be completed and returned in digital
format. Please be sure to bring signed copies with you to the church conference.
Follow the agenda that is outlined. This year, you have the choice of hymns. Please
pick something upbeat and familiar for your congregation(s). You may omit optional
reports that are not applicable to your setting.
The theme for this year is “Nurturing Fruitfulness.” Therefore, I’m asking for you
and your congregation(s) to reflect on answering the following two questions at some
point during our time together during your church conference:
What fruits of ministry do we see in our church/charge as a result of God’s work
in and through us?
As a church/charge, where do we still need to tend the soil in order to see fruit?
I’m inviting you to help your congregations find ways to answer those two questions
at your church conference this year. Be creative if you feel creative. Be direct
if you feel more direct. Most importantly, let’s be honest and open about what we
are doing and how God may be challenging us to grow as communities of faith.
If you have any questions or concerns as you prepare for this year’s church conference,
please do not hesitate to call or e-mail the district office, 906-228-4644. Blessings
to each of you as your prepare for this important time in our life together as the
