Gary is the Senior Pastor of the Indian River United Methodist Church in Indian River, Michigan. Gary will share the story of how their congregation has grown to an average of over 300 worship attendees per week in a community of just over 2,000 residents. Their rapid, tremendous growth caused them to build an entirely new church building which can be clearly seen while driving south on I-75.
“Looking at Where God is Moving Us by Facing Change in the Local Church” with Jerry Devine
Jerry is the Director of Connectional Ministries for the Detroit Conference. Rev. DeVine served in the West Michigan Conference as the Superintendent of the Albion District from 2004-9 and was a Conference Staff Ministry Consultant from 1999-2004. He grew up in South Dakota and has served churches in Delaware and Maryland before coming to Michigan. Jerry has been an active participant on the General Church level and was one of the founding members of the North-Central Jurisdiction Committee on Native American Ministries.

“Called Out - Creating New Places for New Faces” is the theme for Bishop’s Day 2010. Saturday, March 27 is the day and Gladstone Memorial UMC is the place for the Marquette District event. The day will include workshops, opportunities for worship and fellowship, a message from Bishop Keaton, and lunch, all for $10. Steve Sjogren will provide the keynote address: “Catching a Serving Vision for Your Community.”
