Who may vote at the Board of Missions & Church Extension Annual Meeting?

Who may vote at the District Annual Conference?

Rules change to choosing Lay Members at-Large to Annual Conference

A new procedure for choosing at-large members was approved at the 2017 Detroit Annual Conference. Basically the rule states that if there is a need for lay persons to equalize membership to annual conference, the Conference Board of Laity will choose those persons. The way that board will choose those persons was not specified. So our former procedure of voting for representation at our District Annual Meeting no longer applies. Apologies for any confusion; I (Pam Quayle) was just made aware of this new rule on 10/13.
Pastors and laity of churches gather each November to do the work of the district. The Double Header consists of two events: the District Board of Missions and Church Extension Annual Meeting in the morning and the District Annual Conference in the afternoon. Each church is entitled to at least one lay and one clergy vote.This is a great opportunity to worship together and be in fellowship with others across the district and:
Ÿ
obtain information of importance to the life and ministry of local churches in the Marquette District;
Ÿ
help choose the 2018 Mission of the Year;
Ÿ
celebrate the many local church ministries made possible through district grants and low interest loans;
Ÿ
vote on district apportionments;
Ÿ
elect persons to serve on district boards and agencies and to serve as at-large members to the 2018 Detroit Annual Conference.
Ÿ
participate in the future direction of Camp Michigamme

Pastors are expected to attend and lay persons are especially welcome.

Registration is free and includes lunch if you pre-register.
